We have the opportunity to build together the world's greatest multiracial, multicultural, multiethnic society; but we will only succeed if we are able to understand and appreciate one another. Since its founding, the Tanenbaum Center has been a leader in this endeavor, promoting interfaith understanding and confronting the forces of hatred and division that still exist in our society.

                                                                                                                 Bill Clinton
Former President of the United States

The Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding has earned a global reputation for promoting tolerance and harmony among people of different faiths. Rabbi Tanenbaum fought for the rights and well-being of us all. The Center continues that proud tradition of activism.

                                                                                                        Kofi Annan

The admirable work of the Center is bringing together conversations and systems of values which I believe will subtly but profoundly improve the process and results of dialogue between cultures.

We cannot overemphasize the importance of the Tanenbaum Center's mission of bringing together members of various communities in order that we better understand one another. By focusing on our similarities as opposed to our differences, and by engaging in dialogue and strengthening intergroup relations, we can lend our assistance to groups like the Center and improve society as a whole.

George E. Pataki
Former Governor of New York State

We are privileged to be able to carry on the marvelous traditions of Marc Tanenbaum. He was a light in the darkness . . . If you want to do something for justice, for peace, for understanding in the world, support this foundation. The progress that has been made is simply spectacular.

Reverend Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C,
President Emeritus, University of Notre Dame

I was pleased to stand alongside Rabbi Tanenbaum on behalf of the important causes during his lifetime and I am equally proud to support the work of the center that bears his distinguished name. In the spirit of Rabbi Tanenbaum, this fine organization works to promote harmony among those of different religions, recognizing that we share common values and can help one another solve common problems.

You did something terribly important here at City College this morning. You opened the minds of sixty students to areas of Jewish-Christian relations in ways they had never thought of before your visit.

They came to learn and understand the complicatedness of the issue and left with more than they bargained for.   The conversation and the material sparked the hunger and desire for us to continue the discussion around this topic and put our heads together to get organized around implementing practical solutions on expanding our diversity efforts.

Patricia David
Head of Diversity, CitiGroup Markets & Banking

Your workshop gave participants real tools for communicating about religious needs and provided practical information and guidelines for dealing with sensitive religious issues.  My own clinical practice has been affected by this encounter… I have been surprisedat how enriching the experience has been for my patients and me.

Dr. Alessandro DiRocco
NYU School of Medicine

At every step, Tanenbaum has been available to me, for minor needs...to more major needs, such as setting up a meeting between my students and the Imam and Reverend starring in the case study.  In my students mid-year evaluations, they said that meeting these men changed their lives and was the highlight of their year.  Further, they all said that the conflict resolution skills they had gained helped them to be better friends, siblings, boyfriends, girlfriends, teammates and children to their parents.
