JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The is an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic organization.  The Administrative Assistant will be involved in many details of a growing not-for-profit, will work directly with the Operations Department, and will report to the Managing Director of Operations.  The Administrative Assistant will be supported from time to time by administrative interns, and responsibilities include the following:

-Assist the Operations Department as needed

-Assist the Development Department as needed

-Provide support for the Executive Vice President and program staff as needed with research, analysis and creation of materials

-Coordinate projects and tasks for administrative interns

-Oversee printing and logging of résumés

-Maintain Press Book and obtain reprints and dubs

-Maintain Chron file

-Maintain File Memos log
-Maintain Office Procedures Manual

-Retrieve voice mail and email as needed

-Make follow-up phone calls to Board members and donors

-Enter revenues and update information in DonorPerfect database

-Maintain office equipment

-Supervise daily filing and maintenance of filing system
-Oversee creation of information packages

-Do mail merges and coordinate large mailings

-Coordinate and ensure complete phone coverage

-Oversee inventory and ordering of all supplies and stationery

-Coordinate and track all pick-ups and deliveries

-Maintain and distribute updated emergency procedures

-Oversee mail including: the opening, tracking and distribution
-Maintain office appearance

-Such other responsibilities as may be requested or required from time to time

THE PROGRAM

Tanenbaum’s K-12 education program helps educators establish classroom communities that celebrate pluralism and respect.

The Seven Principles for Inclusive Education is a unique framework for our multicultural and multi-religious curricula and training. Both the training and curricula are K-12.  The curricula are literacy based, standards referenced, and academically integrated, thus reinforcing academic priorities.

Through cooperative activities and peer-learning, our program helps children learn to value and respect themselves, each other, and their shared environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Religion & Diversity Education Program Associate will report to the Assistant Program Director, Religion and Diversity Education and will be primarily responsible for supporting the Program’s management in rolling out and implementing the program in diverse settings and in the design of the program.  This may include evening and weekend hours as well as:

-
Assisting to design and implement educator training/staff development trainings to include:
-
 Design and help to deliver large-scale educator training/staff development modules for program dissemination in existing and new sites in the New York region and beyond;
-
Modeling all program lessons and activities;
-
Informal consultations.
-
Observe and monitor program implementation in the classroom and in after school settings:
-
Conduct structured observation with respect to curriculum and its impact;
-
Conduct regular observations to assess the effectiveness of educator training/staff development;
-
Maintain written record of observations (field notes) and recommendations for program modification, improved educator training/staff development training design and evaluation enhancement.
-
On-going research for program curricula
-
On-going assessment and adaptation of program curricula
-
Review all educational materials to assure their utility in the classroom and after school setting;
-
Work with program staff to revise, modify and adapt all curricula based on observations, evaluations, teacher experiences and recommendations.
-
Work with program staff and consultants to design and implement evaluations of program, implementation and impact.
-
Collaborate on outreach and presentations including to new schools, educators, Tanenbaum’s Board of Directors and other leadership.
-
Foster relationships and work with Education Program Advisory Council to help move program forward.
-
Work in cooperation with development team to identify potential program funders and prepare proposals.
-
Work with Department to identify new directions and applications for Religion & Diversity Education program and other Tanenbaum initiatives.
-
Responsible for drafting letters, memos, filing and other support functions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

BA and classroom teaching experience in K-12 school settings; MA and certification preferred.

The Religion and Conflict Resolution Program

In a world of conflict often stimulated by religion, Tanenbaum’s Religion and Conflict Resolution Program works to further the effective use of religiously-motivated individuals as a positive force in conflict resolution.  Our initiatives promote religious peacemaking as an urgently needed component of Track II (citizen) diplomacy, and strengthen the impact of religiously-motivated men and women engaged in resolving conflicts worldwide.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The is an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic organization.  Tanenbaum is looking for the best candidate at any level to join its expanding Religion and Conflict Resolution Program Team.  The new Conflict Resolution Professional will work in collaboration with program staff to support the Religion and Conflict Resolution Program’s direction, expansion and implementation.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following initiatives:

Peacemakers in Action and the Women’s Peace Initiative, including:

-The process and annual election of Peacemaker in Action and Middle East-North Africa Women’s Peace Initiative awardees.
-The research, interviews and creation of in-depth case studies of Peacemakers and conflict situations.
-The promotion of Peacemakers among new audiences and through new technologies.
-The planning of all components of Peacemakers in Action Working Retreats/conferences.
-The strengthening of the Peacemakers’ international network, including maintaining institutional contact with Peacemakers and fostering collaboration and mobilization among Peacemakers.

Distribution and expansion of the findings of Peacemakers in Action: Profiles of Religion in Conflict Resolution (Cambridge University Press, 2007) and other Tanenbaum resources:

-Creation of innovative materials and trainings based on the book’s findings and Tanenbaum’s Peacemakers program for target audiences – including students; diplomats and policy makers; and religious scholars and leaders.
-Outreach and new opportunities for book distribution, trainings and workshops, and partnerships.
-Implementation of evaluation tools for assessing trainings and resources.
-New directions for the Program, including publications, partnerships and partnership products.
-Fund development for Religion and Conflict Resolution.
-Outreach and representation of the Program to external audiences as appropriate.
-Staff support for Religion and Conflict Resolution Program Advisory Council and Board of Directors as appropriate.
-Organizational support as needed for general operations and to serve as a member of the Program unit in assessing overall direction.

The Endowment/Major Gifts Manager will report to the Executive Vice President.

The Endowment/Major Gifts Manager will join a small Development Unit and will participate in the planning and implementation of an endowment campaign and major gifts initiative.  For the right candidate, this is an exciting opportunity to help expand a dynamic and growing organization that is addressing one of the most critical issues of our time, as well as for professional growth. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Major responsibility for:

planning and in-house management of an Endowment and Major Gifts Campaign;
