religion and diversity education: cultivating global citizenship

More than ever, we are a global community. In Religion and Diversity Education: Cultivating Global Citizenship, an intensive, 30-hour professional development course, you'll learn how to assess the state of multicultural education in your classroom, adapt your current curriculum for establishing an inclusive environment, and prepare students to participate in society at a global level. Using our 7 Principles for Inclusive Education, samples from our skills based curricula, theories of multicultural education, globalization trends, and Professional Teaching Standards, you'll explore creative ways of integrating religious diversity education into a variety of content areas in your K-5 curriculum.  New York City public school teachers will earn 3 "P" credits while other New York State teachers can earn professional development credits toward their state certification, but all educators are welcome. The next session begins July 13th.

NOTE: New York City and State employees must register through the NYC Department of Education website; all other educators register directly with Tanenbaum.  Please join our mailing list to be sure you receive full registration instructions.

curricula-based training

Tanenbaum creates innovative in-school and after-school curricula for elementary and high school students. Award-winning elementary school curricula teach students to live respectfully and inclusively with one another – all while reinforcing academic learning through integrated, literacy-based activities in math, science, social studies, English, and art.  High school curricula use the real-life stories of our Peacemakers in Action to teach conflict resolution skills.

Key to all our curricula is the intensive teacher training that takes educators step-by-step through the programs, working through each of the lessons and exploring ways to adapt them for different classrooms.

All curricula-based training also includes a review of The 7 Principles for Inclusive Education, so you can embed all your lessons with messages of multiculturalism and respect.
